Vehicle Climatic Windtunnel

Simulations

The vehicle wind tunnel is equipped to subject the test vehicle to a variety of real-world operating conditions.

For passenger cars and light trucks:

  • Level road and grade-climbing loads
  • Trailer tow loads
  • Idle conditions (often combined with solar radiation)
  • City traffic (stop and go) cycles, with programmed control of throttle, brakes, wind, and rapid roll nozzle door
  • Cabin cooldown, heater warmup and defrost

For heavy trucks:

  • Full throttle at controlled RPM (rated power or rated torque)
  • Cabin cooldown, heater warmup and defrost
  • SCR catalyst system cold-flow characteristics
